I am, Lord willing, about to set out on a journey to Constantinople (Istanbul), Turkey and Mount Athos, Greece. One would expect that I would be consumed with a joyful anticipation of the adventures that await. I am not without this attitude, but it is dampened by competitors: sorrow and uncertainty. Sorrow at leaving as Fr. Roman lies at the threshold of death; uncertainty regarding travel plans that have not yet fallen into place. Living in the present, the present place and the present time, is always the challenge. It has been my joy beyond words to live in the presence of Fr. Roman over the last six years. Neither sorrow nor uncertainty can snatch from me the joy that comes through the cross, which Fr. Roman has carried, and continues to carry to his last breath, so beautifully. Thank you, Fr. Roman.
